66 Years Old, Looking Good
Dignitaries from all over East Ayrshire gathered at The Grange Church in Kilmarnock on Sunday 11th February to honour the 66th anniversary of the Air Training Corps. There were 132 cadets and staff on parade, two for each year of the organisations existence. These were drawn from all over the Wing, from as far away as Cumbernauld, Helensburgh and Girvan. The bulk of the cadets though were provided by the local squadrons.

The church service itself was led by the Crops Chaplin the Rev Thomas Tait and the Wing Chaplin the Rev Colin Brockie who is the minister for the Grange Church.
The Depute Provost – Councillor Tommy Farrell, who was present at the parade said, “It was an honour to be asked to commemorate the founding of the ATC. It is a long running prestigious organisation which continues to operate well within Ayrshire and help young people who are considering a career in the Royal Airforce. I would like to congratulate the ATC and wish them many more years of success”.

After the service there was a march past in front of the church where the salute was taken by the Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon Des Browne MP, the Depute Provost of East Ayrshire Councillor Tommy Farrell and Wing Commander George Campbell.
