Wing Commanders Charity Cup
A new cup was presented to Glasgow & West Scotland Wing by Mrs Marion Campbell in memory of Wing Commander George Campbell MBE OStJ DL MInstMgt RAFVR(T) who was Officer Commanding Wing from 1977-1982. The cup, to be known as the Wing Commander's Charity Cup, will be presented to the squadron collecting the most financial support for charities which will be on an annual basis.
The idea for the charity cup was a put forward by all the family and it was felt very appropriate due to the enormous charity work that Wing Commander Campbell was involved in throughout his life. He was Director of the British Red Cross for Dunbartonshire, a member of the St John Association, Chairman of the local RNLI branch as well as many other charities that he assisted.
The first winners of the cup were 327 (Kilmarnock) Squadron. The photograph shows Mrs Marion Campbell with CWO Steven Reilly of 327 (Kilmarnock) Squadron, and the current OC Glasgow & West Scotland Wing, Wing Commander George Campbell (son).
