Wing Commander Tony Sneider

Officer Commanding Glasgow & West Scotland Wing

Wing Commander Sneider started his career with the Air Cadets nearly two decades ago as a Civilian Instructor with 396 (Paisley) Squadron and was commissioned into the VR (T) in July 1992. In 1996 he took over as Officer Commanding 1740 (Clydebank) Squadron and joined Wing Staff in January 2004. Wg Cdr Sneider is keen on all the activities that the Air Cadets provide and has a soft spot for Shooting and has enjoyed taking cadets to Wing, Regional and Corps events in both small and full-bore competitions. His other hobbies are as member of Erskine and District Rotary Club and Erskine Community Council.  He was promoted to Squadron Leader in November 2005, and took command of Glasgow & West Scotland Wing in 2007.

Squadron Leader Iain Low RAFR

Wing Administrative Officer (WAdO)

Squadron Leader Low was born in Glasgow and was a member of 2175 (Rolls Royce) Sqn ATC (Hillington) from 1973 to 1976 during which time he attended two UK and one RAF Germany Summer Camps. He also gained an RAF Flying Scholarship, which allowed him to obtain his Private Pilot’s Licence before he could legally drive a car. He joined the RAF in Apr 1980 and served as a Provost Officer at RAF Bruggen in Germany and at Wyton, Lossiemouth, HQ Support Command and at the RAF Armament Support Unit (RAF Wittering) before retiring in 1996. He took up his appointment as Wing Administrative Officer in Jun of 1997.

Squadron Leader Jim Haley

Squadron Leader Haley joined 32F (1st Glasgow) Squadron as a cadet in 1981, reaching the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer in 1986. In October 1990, he joined the staff of 32F in the rank of Adult Warrant Officer and was commissioned into the RAF VR(T) in February 1993. He took over command of 32F Squadron in 1999 and remained at the helm until September 2005 when he joined Wing Staff. At Wing he is responsible for Staff Training, Green Camps and Special Projects. He was promoted to Squadron Leader in November 2005.

Squadron Leader Ed Crawley

Senior Wing Staff Officer

Sqadron Leader Crawley was enrolled in to the Air Cadets in Jan 1977 as a Cadet with 1001 (Monklands) Squadron, Glasgow & West Scotland Wing reaching the rank of CWO in Jan 1981. After completing his cadet service, he was promoted to AWO in Dec 1984 and then later commissioned into the RAF VR(T) in Nov 1987, still with 1001 Squadron.

In Jan 1992, he was appointed as Officer Commanding 498 (Wishaw) Squadron retaining the rank of Flight Lieutenant until Jan 2000. He was promoted to Squadron Leader and took up the Regional Staff Officer post as Officer Commanding ScotSATT and is responsible for providing all necessary Weapons Training and Range Conducting Officer Training for the whole Region. In Dec 2003, he also took on further duties as Shooting Convenor for the Region.

Squadron Leader Crawley is married to Amanda, who is also a Flight Lieutenant RAF VR(T), and they have 2 young children Mairearad and Sean. In "his other life", Squadron Leader Crawley works for HM Revenue and Customs (previously known as the Inland Revenue). Past-times and hobbies include: music, military history, motor racing and obviously… shooting.

Flight Lieutenant Jim Henderson

Flight Lieutenant Jim Henderson joined 1089(Shettleston) Squadron as a cadet in April 1976 and was promoted to CWO in January 1980. He became a CiviIian Instructor in August 1983 and was appointed AWO in January 1984. He remained at 1089 Squadron as their Adult Warrant Officer until June 1997 and then transfered to 2452 (Shawlands) Squadron to become their AWO. Whilst at 2452 Squadron he became heavily involved in Cadet Shooting. He was Commissioned in January 2000 and in August 2000 was appointed OC 449(Lanark) Squadron. In January 2003 he was appointed OC 396(Paisley) Squadron. In August 2006 he was appointed as Wing Shooting Convenor. In April 2007 he was appointed onto Wing Staff continuing as Wing Shooting Convenor but having further duties as Competitions Officer and Wing Enquiries Officer.

Flight Lieutenant Dave MacKay

Flight Lieutenant David MacKay joined the Air Training Corps as a Civilian Instructor with 1001 Squadron in June 1982. He was commissioned in August 1983, and has served with 1001 Squadron for all of his time with the Corps. He took over command in 1989 and was the first person to forge links with Northern Ireland when 1919 Squadron came over for a camp at Garelochhead. He has attended many Annual Camps both as staff and as Camp Commandant, has organised and run Llanbedr for the past 15 years and has also been to Cyprus Camp twice. David joined Wing Staff in June 2007, and is responsible for flying, gliding and camps.

Flight Lieutenant Brian Wilson

Wing Staff Officer (WSO)

Flight Lieutenant Brian Wilson joined the ATC as a CI with 137 (Ayr & Prestwick) Sqn in 1991 after serving 14years with the ROC. He moved to 1371 (Girvan) Sqn in 1993, receiving his commission in January 1994. On the 1st April 1994 he took command of 1371 (Girvan) Sqn. remaining at that post until joining Wing Staff on 4th June 2007. Secondary duties during his time with the squadron included Wing DEAO (Duke of Edinburgh's Award Officer) and aircraft recognition competitions. He remains as Wing DEAO and continues the aircraft recognition competitions, further duties include Wing Welfare Officer. His involvement as Galloway Hills Wild Country Panel secretary and Managing Director of the Carrick Community Transport Group has came about through Cadet contact with these organisations.

Flight Lieutenant Graham Short

Media Information and Recruting Officer (MIRO)

Flt Lt Graham Short joined the Air Cadets in 1978 in 1000 (Blyth) Sqn, Northumberland.  He became a CI at 1145 (Dunfermline) Sqn in 1983, then moved to 1192 (Kirkcaldy) and 2180 (Galashiels) squadrons before joining Glasgow & West Scotland Wing in 1986 at 2452 (Shawlands) Sqn.  He was commissioned in 1991 and joined 62 (2nd Glasgow) Sqn for a short time before returning to Shawlands.  In 1997 he took command of 1089 (Shettleston) Sqn.  He had to give up the squadron in 1999, but returned to assist at 396 (Paisley) then 2414 (East Kilbride) sqns before taking over 2175 (Rolls-Royce) sqn in 2003.  In January 2006 he was promoted to Wing Staff as the Media Information and Recruting Officer.
