Cadet Classification Training

Training plays an integral part in of the activities that the ATC offers to it's cadet and staff members.

New cadet members start off their cadet training as probationary cadets. After three months as a member of the squadron, cadets then become second class cadet classification. The first syllabus that new recruits must complete is the First Class Cadet syllabus.

Within 2319 Squadron, the first class cadet syllabus is undertaken in the form of the "Basic Training Syllabus". The cadet must undertake training within a classroom environment and also within an outdoor 'field' environment. Final assessment is undertaken during a weekend camp, where the cadet is assessed on a variety of subjects including adventure training and drill. On successful completion of the camp, the cadet is awarded their First Class classification.

All the basic training is intended to be progressive and at the early stages provides a cadet with an introduction to the ATC, the RAF and the basic fieldcraft, campcraft and communications skills that will form the basis of all their future practical cadet training.

After completing their First Class training cadets are taught more advanced subjects that will provide the cadet with an insight into the various aspects of aviation including the technical, navigation, communications, and the operational aspects of modern aviation. They then progress to leading, senior, and staff cadets after completing the examinations at each level.

All training within 2319 Squadron is coordinated by the Squadron Training Officer, and is carried out by the squadron instructors, and Senior NCO Staff Cadets.
