About the Air Training Corps (ATC)
The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary youth organisation that provides young people between the ages of 13 and 18 years the opportunity to develop a variety of new skills, meet new friends and to participate in a wide range of activities.
The ATC is supported by the Royal Air Force, and as such provides young people with aviation training, adventurous activities, and a variety of other activities that may not be available from other youth organisations.
The ATC has three aims. These aims are set out in a Royal Warrant, and they form the basis of all the training activities that ATC members participate in. The Aims of the Corps are as follows:
The ATC meets these aims at all levels of the Corps structure. Members, or Cadets as they are known when they join the organisation, join units known as 'Squadrons'. Squadrons come in various shapes and sizes, and recruit from the areas surrounding their unit. It is at a squadron level that most cadets training takes place although all cadets have the opportunity to participate in activities where they may be selected to represent their "Wing", "Region" or even the "Corps".
This site will mainly provide information on the 2319 Vale of Leven Squadron. If you would like to find out more about the Corps, then please select the link to HQ Air Cadets in the menu to the left of this screen.
