Air Training Corps

Welcome to our website!

The squadron is run by Flight Lieutenant Les McCammont who was commissioned in 1992 and is supported by 5 other committed and experienced staff. These staff provide a structured program covering a wide range of subjects, with the emphasis on the cadets enjoying themselves. There are over 40 cadets (both male and female) on the squadron with ages ranging from 13 to over 18 years old.

The keen and eager cadets take part in a wide range of activities. There is Flying, Gliding and Shooting, lots of Sports as well as Hill Walking, Rock Climbing, Absailing and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Not all the time is spent in enjoyment. Cadets can also be seen bag packing at local stores in aid of various charities.

Any new recruit coming to the squadron is invited down to discuss (with parents) what the ATC can offer them. If they like what they can do then they are given a series of safety briefings before joining in with rest of the cadets.

To get to the squadron head to Ardrossan Academy on the A78. Take the road for South Beach Station, turn left over the bridge, bear left after 200m and the school is on the left.
